24 Months Later

24 Months Later

Hate ate up their hearts
in that dance of godless worship,
powdery fire in the belly of guns
covered the cowardice in their chests.

The ancient hills embraced us
away from the taunt of hyenas
and their quest to drape the land
in the coatings of pious dung.

My brother’s valour
peers through a veil of light
and reflects God’s love
in this residue of tears.
